Nikon Z Mount

Nikon Z7ii and Nikon Z6

After using the Nikon Nikon Z6 for a year I decided that I wanted the bigger sensor and second memory card slot. I have become a mirrorless shooter now. I still have my D850, but it's hard to justify the weight and size for most days.

I have built modest selection:

  • NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S
  • NIKKOR Z 24-120mm f/4 S
  • NIKKOR 40mm f/2 pancake lens
  • NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.8 S
  • NIKKOR Z 85mm f/1.8 S

Nikon F Mount

Nikon D850

I started out with the D750 in 2015 and added the D850 in 2018. I must say that the D850 is the best DSLR ever made!

I have been adding and subtracting F-Mount lenses over the years. Today I am using:

  • Nikkor 16-35/4G ED VR
  • Nikkor 20/1.8G ED
  • Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8 FX AF-S G ED
  • Sigma Art 50/1.4
  • Nikkor AF-S 70-200/2.8E ED FL VR
  • Nikon 55mm f/2.8 Micro NIKKOR (old manual focus model)

I still have my FA and motor drive from 1990 and someday I may even put some film in it!

Fujifilm X-T3

I got the X-E3 first (see below), but my wife picked up a used X-T3 and I was really liking that form factor. It has a classic feel that reminds me of my Nikon FA. So when my Instagram buddy put his X-T3 up for sale I jumped on it! I also got the 18-55/2.8 zoom lens too. It's a great street camera! After a couple weeks with it I added the classic 35/1.4 (which works out to be the full frame nifty 50/1.8. My street rig is complete!

Fujifilm X-E3

Having shot Leica M in the 1990s, I wanted to have a street shooter that was small and discreet. Nikon didn't offer such a thing and I have always liked the Fujifilm X series. I picked up the X-E3 and have a 23/2, 27/2.8 pancake and the wonderful 56/1.2

The Other Gear

I have a few tripods and am so far happiest with my graphite Peak Design Travel Tripod and for days I have a short walk: Manfrotto 190 - With this my cameras have "L-brackets" from SunwayFoto, which are cheap and good.

My favorite bags are by Peak Design and I currently use two of their Everyday Backpacks and sling for my X-E3. I also love their straps and related hardware.

I use filters by a few manufacturers, but my go to are: Breakthrough Polarizer and a 3-stop ND. Recently got the 10-stop ND from PolarPro.
